Gratitude

Gratitude is a sculpture with a tesselated pentagon pattern cut through the surface of an aluminum dodecahedron. The tesselated pentagon pattern was created in Adobe Illustrator, while the form and fabrication files were created parametrically in Rhino+Grasshopper. The sculpture is created from milled 5052 aluminum sheet that is .04” thick, with .125” thick glass green tinted acrylic interior panels. Each edge angle is held with a bent aluminum Reversible Edge Connector (REC) that is CNC milled and precision bent with a bending brake. Gratitude is the result of a new fabrication workflow stemming from Braden’s doctoral studies in Design Research.
